People

For best works in computational physics, it is necessary to have good contact with experiments and analytical works. As you can see in the institute’s page, there are leading experimentalists and theorists in the institute. An international atmosphere is another important condition that can be found in our institute. (Most of the seminars are given in English by inhouse staff and visiting scientists from abroad. Long-term international workshops are being organized annually.)

Computational Resources

The Materials Design and Characterization Lab., to which our group belongs, is operating super-computer systems. For details of machines, see the super-computer center’s page (in Japanese).

Others

We are in good conditions concerning spaces, libraries, and daily necessities (printing facilities, travel budget, etc)

For those of you who are considering academic careers and trying to find opportunities for conducting PhD researches in computational physics, we suggest that you contact us by e-mail. You might also be interested in working as a postdoc at ISSP. In either case, you should send us brief but specific descriptions of your works and plans. (For postdoc positions, see also JSPS’s web page).
